Textile Fragment
Not on view
Late antique textiles from Egypt vary widely in their design, technique, and quality. This textile is particularly notable for its bold color scheme and graphic aesthetic. Two rows of red repeating heart-like shapes run on both sides of a deep green vine scroll. Since textiles worn on the body tended to employ more intricate designs, it is possible that this piece was part of a wall hanging.
