Bottle

Not on view

The decoration on this bottle, concentric circles topped by vertical ribs, is unusual in glass. The closest parallels to this pseudo-architectural pattern are found on fragmentary friezes in plaster excavated at the Abbasid palace at Samarra, Iraq (mid-9th century) whence it spread throughout the Islamic world.
