"Princess and Attendants on Balcony", Folio from the Davis Album
Frolicking noblewomen and their attendants are depicted on a terrace set against a receding background of green hills and distant mountain ridges with snow. The landscape and the distinctive pink blossoms suggest that the setting is the valley of Kashmir where Mughal nobility escaped for relaxation.
