Collaborative painting and calligraphy by Hōitsu, Nanpo, Bunchō and others
A playful sampling of works by Edo's leading early nineteenth-century artists and literati is arranged here into irregular "paving stones." The many auspicious motifs and spring-themed poems suggest that this collection was made at the lunar New Year.
