Plate (tagliere)
probably workshop of Guido Durantino Italian
This dish and its companion in the Lehman Collection (1975.1.1125) belong to the only known set of maiolica decorated entirely with landscapes, rather than narratives. Created for a member of the wealthy Salviati family of Florence, it is one of the largest services ever recorded, originally consisting of nearly two hundred dishes of five distinct types, each designed to serve a different function at the table.
