Wall Fountain

French

On view at The Met Cloisters in Gallery 07

Although acquired as a twelfth-century original from the monastery of Notre-Dame-du-Vilar (Roussillon), this fountain is probably a forgery based on Romanesque decorative forms of the Pyrenees, such as those of the Cuxa Cloister.
