Tsa Yanshtqi (basket drum)
Coiled baskets used for musical purposes are known by several names among First Nations people in the U.S. Southwest. Inverted baskets functioned as a resonator for a rasp or, like this example, were beaten with highly perishable folded yucca leaves to accompany rituals.
