Grinding stone
Middle Kingdom
Part of a foundation deposit discovered in a pit along the axis of the pyramid temple of Amenemhat I at Lisht North, this stone burnisher had been buried during rituals performed by the king to mark the beginning of the temple's construction. Along with this was found 25 vessels of pottery and Egyptian alabaster, and 10 rough grinders of sandstone.
