Burial chamber of User, South end

Middle Kingdom

Not on view

User, whose principal title was Steward, was buried in a shaft tomb south of the mastaba enclosure of Senwosretankh at Lisht. His burial chamber was lined with limestone blocks that are now part of the Museum's collection. The blocks are inscribed in black paint with extracts from the Pyramid Texts, a collection of magical spells designed to assist first royalty, and later some private people, in their transfiguration after death and eternal life in the Hereafter.
