Statuette of Amun

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 123

Extensive inlay, atypically thin and angular body modeling, and facial features that approximate New Kingdom Thutmoside or early Ramesside prototypes all suggest this seated statuette of Amun belongs to the Third Intermediate Period. Technical features such as the hollow casting and separately cast arms fit well in the same timespan.

The ancient separately created base might have been metal, wood or stone.
