Shabti and Coffin

New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 117

The inscription on the under side of the coffin lid states that it was "made by the sculptor Neferhebef." The shabti inside is inscribed with a version of the standard shabti text written in hieratic script. The lid would have been secured to the coffin with pegs.
