Pitcher
Liverpool produced many transfer-printed ceramics with patriotic imagery for the American market. Depictions of George Washington and important sites in the Revolutionary War were especially popular. Transfer printing allowed manufacturers to reproduce images easily, as on this pitcher bearing the depiction of George Washington with a map of the United States. White earthenware printed in black or blue was a prevalent and affordable style.
