Unnumbered plate with part of the Arcus Neroniani – a branch of the Claudian Aqueduct (or Aqua Claudia) built by Nero – near the Porta Maggiore. This image appears below plate 41, another view of the Aqueducts of Nero. This is one of only a few examples in the volume where the two half-page images relate to the same Roman monument (the majority of unnumbered bottom images depict ancient sculpture and bas-reliefs). The following plate 42 also relates to this aqueduct and faces page 71, the first of two pages of text describing the monument.
