George, Prince of Wales (later George IV) stands under a tree with his horse, his right elbow resting on the saddle, his left hand touching his sword. The prince wears a military jacket adorned with the Garter star and looks to the right, with a line of cavalry is seen in the distance. In this early state he wears a cocked hat (with two points); in later states this was changed to a high-crowned style.
