Bowl with Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.The figures depicted on this bowl are eminent men of letters from the eighth century who shared a love of wine. Celebrated in a poem by Du Fu (712–770), “Song for the Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup,” they include the poet Li Bai and the calligrapher Zhang Xu.
