Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up of a basketweave pattern of ribbons of light tan color with stipples of dark reddish-brown color and a zig-zagging line of light tan color with red outlines running along the middle over a ground of light tan color. The spaces between the ribbons are decorated with groups of four pearls colored with white, arranged to form the shape of a lozenge.
