Ornamental designs with stylized flowers and leaves
Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains two ornamental designs with stylized flowers and leaves. The first design, possibly for a textile or wallpaper, is presented in a rectangle on the upper part of the sheet, and is made up of scrolling branches with stylized leaves and flowers, executed with black and some rendered with black stipples, and scrolling, scallop-edged ribbons, rendered with black stipples over a clear ground, and with strips of semi-abstract leaves and rosettes, on a clear ground. Below this design are two bundles with thin branches and stylized flowers and leaves, one also with a stylized butterfly flying near it, executed with black ink and black stipples.
