Designs for ribbons or borders with palmettes, stylized flowers and leaves, and scrolling motifs
Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains seven designs for ribbons or borders with palmettes, stylized flowers and leaves, and scrolling motifs. The first design is made up of thin, scroling leaves, and the second of interlacing branches with small, pointed leaves. The third design is made up of C-curves with different sorts of zig-zagging motifs, containing stylized palmettes of different sorts inside them. The fourth design contains a strip of scrolling leaves similar to that on the first, but this time it is placed on a dark background rendered with black stipples. The fifth design is made up of interlacing circular motifs with semi-abstract branch offsets, framed by thin, hotizontal stripes. The sixth design is made up of interlacing branches with large stylized leaves. The seventh design is made up of thin, interlacing branches with small stylized trefoil leaves and small stylized bell-shaped fruits. The designs are executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper.
