Hair Dressing Tool (Kogai)

This is one of the oldest kogai outside of Japan. It was made in the so-called kokinko (old goldsmith) style. The design, featuring a crane, turtle, pine tree, bamboo, and plum tree, is known as kishomon (auspicious) and was intended to bring the owner good luck.
