Not on view
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert here greet visitors to the Great Exhibition near displays devoted to India, Persia and Greece. The Prince had worked with Henry Cole for years to organize this first international fair of manufactured goods housed in a huge, specially constructed, glass building in Hyde Park. The Queen opened the exhibition on May 1, 1851, and returned many times to tour the galleries.
