In October 1844 Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel and made a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This print provides a plan of the castle in 1844 and can be compared to the vignette of its appearance in 1672 on page 18. It belongs to a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate the journey.
