Table Spoon

1780–90
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774
The initials inscribed on this spoon are said to be those of Colonel Israel M. Keith, a major of the Continental Army and aide-de-camp to General William Heath, from the thirteenth of August, 1776, to the twenty-third of May, 1778. General Heath was colonel of a Massachusetts regiment at Lexington and Concord. The spoon was bought by the donor from a grandson of Colonel Keith.
