FELLOWSHIP 1. A group of persons formally joined together for some common interest:
For his autumn/winter 1978–79 collection, Perry Ellis presented layered separates in a high-octane show that included a team of Princeton cheerleaders. This ensemble is directly inspired by the preppy insouciance of the cheerleading uniform and was part of a series featuring monogrammed sweaters that spelled the designer’s name. Its carefree yet traditional sensibility reflects Ellis’s overall approach to American sportswear, described by the New York Times as a "look that should appeal to the college generation as it sheds its blue jeans."
