Vishwavasu had a beautiful daughter named Madalasa. Taken by her beauty, the demon Paatalketu abducted her to Paatal Loka, but she rejected his advances. The hero Ratudhvaja eventually reaches Paatal Loka to slay Paatalketu. During the battle Paatalketu is injured and Madalasa is released from captivity. She then marries Ratudhvaja, who is here courting her, accompanied by a female chaperone.
