Wendingen: Maandblad for Bouwen en Sieren van Architectura et Amicitia (May 1918, nr. 5)
The Dutch periodical Wendingen was dedicated to architecture and related arts, and closely affiliated with the architectural society Amicitia et Architectura. It first appeared in 1918 and publication continued through 1931 with various interruptions. Each issue had a unique cover design by a contemporary (graphic) artist, and was dedicated to a specific theme.
This issue, number 5 of year 1 (1918) is dedicated to architecture and contains, among others, a discussion of the buildings built for the second Dutch annual fair of industries illustrated with photos of several buildings and interiors, a socio-historical overview of architecture, an unillustrated piece on the murals of Frank Brangwyn, a description of the office building of Muller & Co in London as designed by H. P. Berlage, and an introduction of the work of the Swedish painter Ivar Arosenius. Also included in this issue is a reproduction of a concert poster by the artist Jan Sluijters, and photos of exhibitions held in Cologne and Dusseldorf. The cover illustration for this issue was done by Richard Roland Holst.
