Landscape
Chiang I-han was a polymath who studied classical Chinese painting, calligraphy, and Euro-American modern art. In his own paintings, especially from the 1980s on, Chiang synthesized his early training in the theory and practice of Chinese landscape painting with the bold scale and visual impact of modern art. This monumental work features a lengthy inscription encapsulating some of Chiang’s ideas about the Chinese landscape painting tradition and his place within it.
