Embroidered Textile Fragment
This embroidered textile is inspired by the style of pietra dura decoration of Shah Jahani architecture, where semi-precious stones are inlaid in white marble in floral designs to form gracious arabesques and scrolling vines. Here we see the upper part of a hallmark Mughal design of a cusped arch resting on columns with a naturalistically depicted flowering plant below.
