This exquisite embroidery depicting a dragon with prominent ox horns is a rare example of a ceremonial Ming dynasty rank badge conferred by the emperor on high officials on special occasions such as sacrificial ceremonies at the imperial mausoleums, grand inspections of the army, or delivering a Confucian lecture to the emperor.
