The monkey general Hanuman of the Ramayana, Rama’s staunchest ally, is shown battling the mighty demon (rakshasa) Ravana, Lord of Lanka. Ravana, ten-headed and with twenty sword-wielding arms, is flying through the air to attach Hanuman. Ravana is dressed is splendid yellow robes and his complexion is dark blue, mimicking in both Rama’s appearance, alluding to the seeds of wisdom and goodness within his demonic heart. Inscribed in Bengali and English.
