Calligraphic Composition in Ta‘liq
This page of marbled paper contains nine lines of calligraphy in ta'liq script. This script style and the technique of marbling paper originated in Iran, and traveled to Turkey and Mughal and Deccani India alongside calligraphers and craftsmen in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. The text is from the 15th century mystical Persian poet Jami, whose work was highly valued in India.
