Ellen Howe

Conservator Ellen Howe is responsible for the care and study of objects in the Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Her work includes conservation of a wide range of inorganic and organic materials, with a specialty in the technology of archaeological and ethnographic objects from the Americas and West/Central Africa. Ellen joined the Department of Objects Conservation in 1981, having received an MA and Certificate of Advanced Study in Art Conservation from the State University of New York, Cooperstown Graduate Program, and a BA in Studio Art/Art History from Smith College.
