Diese Vase, ein Meisterstück der französischen Art Nouveau, gehört zu den ambitioniertesten Keramiken von Hoentschel, einem Architekten, Innendekorateur und Kunstsammler sowie Töpfer. Aquatische Motive – Fische, Krustentiere, Muscheln und Seetang – sind meisterhaft in das Design eingearbeitet und die fleckige grüne Glasur verstärkt noch das marine Thema. Diese Vase und ihr Gegenstück wurden 1900 auf der Exposition Universelle in Paris ausgestellt.
