[Laughing Boys in Living Room]

Larry Clark American
1963, printed 1980
Not on view
For over twenty years Clark has been photographing teenagers in disturbingly raw and often explicit images. Most recently he has explored this subject matter as the director of the motion picture Kids. Clark was himself deeply immersed in the culture of sex, drugs, and violence as a teenager and shortly thereafter began photographing this world. This photograph belongs to a series of images of the artist's friends made between 1963 and 1971; many of those depicted were dead by the time Clark published their pictures in his book Tulsa in 1971.
