Tierköpfige Trinkgefäße und Rhytone—Trinkgefäße, die vorne ein Loch haben, aus denen die Flüssigkeit fließt—wurden im alten vorderen Orient sehr hoch geschätzt. Dieses Rhyton endet im Vorderteil einer Raubkatze, vielleicht eines Panthers, in dessen Brustmitte sich eine kleine Öffnung zum Einschenken befindet, um die wiederum ein Kranz aus Efeu und Weinreben drapiert ist. Der Panther, der Efeu und die Weinreben mit ihren Trauben sind alles Symbole des Dionysos, des griechischen Gottes der Fruchtbarkeit und des Weins. Die Bildsprache und Form verbinden vorderorientalische und griechische Elemente und belegen den regen kulturellen Austausch und gegenseitigen Einfluss in dieser Epoche.
