Mrs. Grace Dalrymple Elliott (1754?–1823)

Mrs. Elliott war die geschiedene Ehefrau eines schottischen Arztes und die stete Begleiterin von Lord Cholmondeley (später erste Marquess of Cholmondeley), der möglicherweise dieses Porträt in Auftrag gab. Die modische gepuderte Perücke trägt zur nicht unerheblichen Größe der Dame bei. Sie trägt ein modernes Kleid des 18. Jahrhundert in einem Gelbton, den Sir Anthony van Dyck über ein Jahrhundert zuvor sehr gerne nutzte. Das Werk wurde 1778 in der Royal Academy ausgestellt.
