Raised Relief Fragment with Part of a List of Festivals

Middle Kingdom
ca. 1971–1926 B.C.
Not on view
The fragment preserves parts of two horizontal lines of inscription separated by a black dividing line. Based on their content, the fragment probably originates from the tomb of an unknown official, rather than a royal structure. The signs have minimal interior detail, and are raised low above the uneven background, which retains much of its black paint.
The upper line preserves part of a title that likely indicates that the official had duties involving a locale outside of Egypt. The lower line lists two festivals: that on the right that cannot be identified, while the one on the left names the Wag-festival, a ritual related to funerary cult.
