Plate 2 of a series of designs for mantelpieces, paneling and doors. This plate shows a mantelpiece and two double doors. The fireplace has a simple volute design. Over it is a mirror topped by a mask on a cartouche, with garlands going from cartouche to spandrels. The walls on either side of the mantelpiece both have three cartouches in a rectangular frame. The overdoors also have the shape of cartouches with two grotesques masks. Finally there is molding with consoles at the top of the wall.
