Untitled

1969
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 199
Like the lute and violin, the guitar’s sensual body and phallic neck render it at once male and female. This blatantly sexual corporality has elicited fetishization, as in the work of the French illustrator and author Tomi Ungerer.
