Touch of Dew, Glimmer of Gold
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Speeding alongside this convertible in a parallel car, Bassman shouted directions to model Lisa Fonssagrives, urging her to accelerate so that the backgrounds of her photographs would blur. This scene was conceived to span a magazine spread, with copy running across the car. Bassman masked the lower portion of the image for printing, then touched up the surface with paint. In the Bazaar, Bassman’s breakneck composition bleeds off the page, launching forward at full tilt.
