Schiaparelli's hat designs always featured something different, a touch of whimsy. This example shows her creativity and attention to detail in the beautiful silhouette accomplished with the forward crown and single undulation of the brim. The tulle ruffle peeking out from the brim adds a distinctive feminine touch, and almost looks like hair, a typical element added by Schiaparelli to express her Surrealist ideas. The fine balibuntal straw, often used in millinery, shows the couture quality and Schiaparelli's devotion to using superior materials in her designs.
