Not on view

Hats worn during the day were sometimes more subdued than cocktail or evening creations. However, this hat shows Schiaparelli's unique talent to use materials in uncommon ways to create a clever design and bring style to daywear. Here, Schiaparelli uses an unorthodox material, eyelet, more commonly used in clothing, to create a flirtatious wing-like bow on an otherwise tailored, sculptural form.
