A sugar mold made by the Chippewa tribe in the Brooklyn Museum collection inspired this pleasing design. Vera Neumann, a member of the Edward C. Blum Design Laboratory at the Brooklyn Museum, frequented the collections to find inspiration for her scarf designs. It is especially interesting in this case because the original object is documented, so Neumann's particular design process is illuminated.
