Evening pumps

This pair of custom-made shoes features a bold and unusual fabric choice, and was almost certainly made to compliment an ensemble by Elsa Schiaparelli. Striped fabrics were featured in Schiaparelli’s designs for Spring 1939, and the original owner of these shoes, Millicent Rogers, was an avid client. Schiaparelli's shoes were made by Andre Perugia, and while these shoes do not have the Perugia marks one would expect, the style and workmanship do suggest that he may have been responsible for their creation.
