The firm of Jaquet-Droz & Leschot had branches in London and Geneva. This watch was made in the London branch. Henri-Louis Jaquet-Droz, who worked in Chaux-de-Fonds, Nancy and Geneva, placed Henri Maillardet in charge of the London branch in 1775. These two together with Leschot were renowned as makers of automata and singing birds.
