Terracotta Hadra hydria (water jar)
Laurel wreaths, such as those that decorate this hydria, are a common motif on Hadra vases. The sepulchral connotations of these painted wreaths, which surround the neck and appear draped across the body, are reinforced by the discovery of bronze hydriae encircled by actual golden wreaths found in Macedonian tombs.
