The vase combines a large mask-like head with a bent human leg terminating at the base in small quadruped legs. This bizarre hybrid may be unique in Etruscan bucchero. Though their function is debated, such objects were likely small drinking cups. The ultimate source of inspiration could have been East Greek, specifically Rhodian, models.
