Terracotta tray

Etruscan

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 170

Ornate bucchero stands with removable trays, often decorated with four female heads, are distinctive objects found in Chiusine burials. The ultimate prototypes for the circular trays are likely East Greek Orientalizing examples.
