Fragment of a terracotta relief
Greek, South Italian, Tarentine
Satyr under a grape arbor
The satyr wears a fawn skin with the legs tied over his chest. He appears to be sleeping. It is unclear whether this is a simple genre scene or, possibly, a situation drawn from the theater. The original shape and purpose of the relief are also difficult to reconstruct.
