Psiax was a potter and painter who used all of the techniques that were current during the last decades of the sixth century B.C.—black-figure, red-figure, Six's technique, white ground. Like the Amasis Painter in many respects, he was a meticulous draftsman who particularly favored works on a small scale. This cup is one of this most characteristic and successful achievements.
