Under a Street Lamp, Manitou Springs, Colorado

Robert Adams American
1981, printed 1985
Not on view
Between 1976 and 1982 Adams went walking at night with his camera near his home in Longmont, Colorado, on the eastern ridge of the Rocky Mountains, capturing trees, houses, fields, and sidewalks lit by the setting sun, streetlights, and moonlight. The series proceeds outward from population centers (chiefly Denver) to the rural plains and mountains, linking what remains of nature in the cities to a larger natural context.
